MARCH on

So on to March, which will hopefully, maybe, be the end of winter and beginning of spring. Although I must say we've had a very mild winter so I may be jumping the gun a bit and kicking myself for it when we have 100+ temps in May. For now, though, I am still very anxious to be in full on spring mode. The biggest, most important reason...no more itchy, uncomfortable tights.

Here's to bare legs (until next winter)!

You can download the new desktop wallpaper for March here. There are three different sizes this time to fit different screen resolutions, which will hopefully be more user friendly.

     * This was created while watching Downton Abbey. Two episodes in and I'm completely hooked (and speaking to myself in a ridiculous accent). Also I debated naming this post "Hot Gam Girl!"

Eye Candy for February

So if you're like me and enjoy creative endeavors while holding down a quasi-completely boring day job, you take pleasure in the little things that can brighten up your work day. Design*Sponge used to feature a desktop wallpaper created by an artist each month. You could download it for free, and for me it was a little indulgence to have a piece of art to look at each month as I was shuffling through travel forms or fax confirmations. However, they haven't had any in awhile, and I truly have missed it. So I've decided to take it on for myself.

This is not without trepidation for a few reasons. 1) Design*Sponge had some great artists working on this. Who am I to do it? 2) This is an ongoing project EVERY MONTH. I'm not exactly what you would call a project finisher. How could I ensure I wouldn't get overwhelmed or bored and quit?

There is no clear cut answer to #1. Maybe I'm not talented enough. Maybe no one besides me will use these wallpapers. In the end it doesn't really matter. I'm doing something, and that's what counts. #2 I knew I needed to find something that overlapped my interests and skills to keep me engaged in this project. I've been making collages since I was 14 and covered a metal box with A's I had cut out of magazines because I had a crush on a boy named Andrew. It comes natural. I can do it quickly, and I actually think it's fun.

So hopefully there will be one of these every month. Feel free to download, share with friends, etc. You can download here. Back story for this month: I put this together while watching (500) Days of Summer and the Miss America Pageant.
